The bellowing of the deer is something that hits you in the gut the first time you hear it: it’s a truly special cry from another time.
By bellowing, the deer warns of its presence and challenges other males who approach its territory. In the event of an encounter with another adult male, antlers clash and violent fights can sometimes break out. The winner will keep his territory while the loser will have to come back later to try his luck again.
The stag bellow is a short period, approximately between September 15 and October 15.
Generally from 3:30 p.m. until dark.
