European Heritage Days 2021

On the program:

• Guided tour of the Priory of Grandmont and its megalithic park

10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. / departure every hour: departures at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The visit is a real journey through history: the guide takes you to discover the 12th century priory. It is the last of the 160 monasteries of the Order of Grandmont to have preserved its original cloister, a marvel of Romanesque architecture. The visit continues in the convent buildings and the old cemetery, where archaeologists have not only uncovered the tombs of the monks, but also Visigothic sarcophagi, dating from the 5th and 6th centuries.

Finally, go back in time as you continue through the park, discovering the megaliths and the Neolithic Coste-Rouge Dolmen, listed as a Historic Monument since 1887.

• guided tour “The Dolmens of Grandmont” Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

The 32-hectare natural park offers a shaded walk, overlooking the Hérault valley, offering a view all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, one of the most beautiful panoramas in the region. This park is also home to numerous “hidden” remains, dating from around 2500 BC: Neolithic dolmens including the famous Coste-Rouge Dolmen, listed as a Historic Monument in 1887, the Belvédère Dolmen, and the ancient ritual site.
The visit will surprise you with the discovery of a quarry of Visigothic sarcophagi, or even rock shelters surely used by monks in the Middle Ages… Put on your walking shoes and follow the guide!

• Nature escape game on the lake island

10h30 – 14h00 – 4:30 p.m. / duration: 1 hour

Woe! Dangerous poachers set up camp in the middle of our priory lake and managed to steal a priceless item. For the moment the places seem deserted, but time is running out, it's a question of survival!
Outdoor escape game, from 7 years old, maximum group of 9 people. Prices: €12 / person – Escape game + visite / Compulsory reservation
